Canastota Recreation youth basketball 2026-27

Does your youth basketball player want to take their game to the next level? Join the Canastota Recreation Commission for competitive travel team tryouts!

​Dates: October 28 and 29, 2026

Times: 3rd & 4th Grade: 6:00 PM – 7:00 PM (both nights)
5th & 6th Grade: 7:00 PM – 8:00 PM (both nights)
*Players only need to attend ONE night of tryouts*

Location: Canastota High School’s Dimao Gymnasium

Cost: $10 per player (Does not include a uniform and will not be collected until teams are formed)

Details: We are looking to roster four teams for the upcoming basketball season:
1 Boys A (5th and 6th grade)
1 Girls A (5th and 6th grade)
1 Boys B (3rd and 4th grade)
1 Girls B (3rd and 4th grade)

Younger players and those who are not selected for the travel teams will have the option of participating in our revamped Skills and Drills clinics this winter.

The season will run from November through February. We anticipate a schedule of weekday evening practices and weekend games.

VOLUNTEER COACHES NEEDED!

​Programs like this don’t happen without amazing community members! We are actively looking for enthusiastic volunteer coaches for both our competitive travel teams and our newly revamped version of Skills and Drills, now called Canastota Youth Hoops. Student Volunteers are also able to volunteer for our Youth Hoops, and highly encouraged for those who play basketball to become mentors and leaders for the future of Stota Basketball!
