2026 Hazardous Tree Removal Project
CANASTOTA, NY – The Village of Canastota plans to begin the removal of several trees and stumps throughout the village in early September as part of the annual hazardous tree removal project.
Each year the village compiles a list of trees located on village property or within the village’s right-of-way which have been deemed to be dangerous due to age, infestation, or another factor. These trees are proactively removed in order to prevent personal injury or property damage in the event of severe weather.
The Canastota Board of Trustees has awarded the 2026 tree removal contract to Helmer’s Complete Tree Service of Oneida for the price of $17,500 after Helmer’s was the lowest bidder in a sealed competitive bid.
Work is scheduled to begin on or about September 2, weather permitting, and will take a few days to complete. Please be aware of work crews taking down the trees listed below and drive with caution near work zones.
Anyone with questions or concerns may contact the Village Administrator at (315) 697-7559 or village@canastota.com.
