South Side Parking Changes

CANASTOTA, NY – In anticipation of the start of school and youth sports in early September, the Village of Canastota Board of Trustees has enacted changes to parking laws on several streets near South Side Elementary School.

These changes, approved by the Village Board at its May 20, 2026 meeting, are intended to promote traffic and pedestrian safety around the elementary school, particularly during school hours and youth sporting events when vehicle congestion is at its peak. The changes, which are listed on the document below, went into effect upon their passage on May 20. The changes prohibit parking on one side of multiple streets surrounding the school, due to increased traffic causing difficulty for buses and emergency vehicles to navigate those streets and residents to get in and out of their driveways.
